Overzicht

The Ferrari “Mexico” No. 14 was driven by Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe Scotuzzi, while the dark blue Ferrari was driven by Jack and Ernie McAffee. The Ferrari 340 “Mexico” #14 did not get very far, crashing after only 100 km into the race during the first stage!
The Panamericana was an extraordinary race covering 3,500 km between the United States and Mexico. The first edition took place in 1950 and saw Hershell McGriff win in an Oldsmobile. Europeans then took an interest in the event, which was a great success. Ferrari, Mercedes and Lancia invested heavily in the race and took turns winning it. In 1955, it was all over! The Panamericana was banned due to safety concerns.
