The Latécoère 631, designed before the Second World War, was the great seaplane of its time. With a length of 44 m and a wingspan of nearly 60 m, it outperformed the American Boeing 314 seaplane in size. However, his career was quite brief and full of accidents that led to the closure of his farm in 1955. On July 31, 1948, the Laté 631 FB-DRC "Henri Guillaumet" took off from Port Etienne in Mauritania to Fort de France in the West Indies. He disappears body and well 1200 miles from the African coast. Debris will be found but no survivors. It is this machine that I have represented in this painting with the Caribbean coasts in the background. 100 x 50 cm - 350 signed and numbered copies.
