The Monte Carlo Rally, formally known as the Rallye Automobile de Monte-Carlo, is a rally event held on the French Riviera in and around the Principality of Monaco. With the exception of the period between 2009 and 2011, the rally has traditionally been the season opener of the World Rally Championship since its inaugural year.
The rally was first held in 1911 and is organised annually by the Automobile Club de Monaco, which also organises the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix.
